The 3 Sisters’ Workshop is the brainchild of Julie Wier, Tammy Duensing and Amanda Nuckolls. These three women, all from Southern Illinois, share a love of alpacas, llamas, knitting, spinning, felting and all things fiber arts related. As a result, their motto for 3SW is, “Lovin’ what we do, and doin’ what we love!” Learn more about each of these “fiberistas” below…
Julie Wier has been sharing her life with llamas for over 25 years. Alpacas were added nearly 10 years ago. Her involvement with these amazing creatures has included school tours at the farm, parades, shows, public events and years of mentoring new owners. Her herd includes nearly 40 llamas and over 50 alpacas. Julie was a founding board member of Southeast Llama Rescue. She is affiliated with the IL Lama Association, MO Lama Association, MOPACA, International Lama Association; Camelid Community, AlpacaNation; Alpaca Owners and Breeders Association and Southeast Llama Rescue. Llamas and Alpacas are her passion and she credits owning them with good physical and mental health. Julie sells hats made from the fleeces of her animals on Etsy, and at various fairs and agriculture-related events throughout the area. She is also a member of the Artisan Guild of Southern Illinois.

Tammy Duensing has learned from fiber masters all over the world. She has experience with weaving, dyeing, felting, knitting and crocheting. She has studied under the following international feltmakers: May Jacobsen Hvistendahl (Norway), Ewa Kuniczak (Scotland), Jeanette Appleton (UK), Sinco (Japan), Annemie Koenen (The Netherlands), and Judit Poc (Hungary). In the states, she has studied under Bonnie Ahrens, Chad Alice Hagen, and Carol Cypher.
In the past, Tammy has raised angora goats and border leicester sheep. Currently, she owns alpacas and has been working with them for over a decade. Besides appaloosa alpacas, Tammy’s other favorite color of alpaca is white — because she can, “see a rainbow of color”, when she looks at one.

Amanda Nuckolls has had a love for the outdoors her entire life. She has been around llamas and alpacas since the age of 8, and has experience in llama ownership. She is hands-on at the Wier World Farm, assisting with herd health, community trips, feeding and care for the over 100 llamas and alpacas, and ensuring that the tractor gets used on a regular basis.
Amanda brings well over a decade’s worth of marketing and web experience to the group. Due to her lifelong awareness of the environment and “going green”, Amanda easily meshes the world of agriculture with the world of branding, marketing and websites.
In addition to being a founding member of 3SW, she is also the owner of GnomeMedia (an interactive marketing company), GnomeAcres (a business dedicated to her love of spinning, knitting and other fiber arts) and maintains a shop on Etsy.com, where she sells her handmade fiber goods. She is also a member of the Artisan Guild of Southern Illinois.
